We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We have a huge team of professional photographers backing all these images so give them a big hand for all their fantastic work..
They have years and years of experience because they're all old farts
However, with regards to the file size, I'm not sure exactly how you mean, all our file sizes are quite large, but we do degrade the quality slightly in photoshop so it doesn't take users forever to download one of our stocks.
Our main goal on DeviantART is to bring a large amount of professional stock images, which aren't your typical style stocks, such as fantasy, costumes, emotional/dramatic poses. We aim towards the fashion sector and want to offer DeviantART users a new variety of stock images.
